I’ve been where you are, Fren.
And as a working actor, I’m in the trenches every day just like you - juggling social life, auditions, bookings, family, national disasters and personal setbacks.

And with the plethora of misinformation out there on the intranets, it’s hard to know how to do this thing the “right” way.
Spoiler Alert: there is no “right way.”

I created The Act of Style Coaching in 2014 after years of trying to “get it right” - people pleasing, trying to become what “they” wanted of me. My previous acting training hadn’t focused on prepared us how to navigate the business, nor did I often feel encourage to implement my own individuality and essence in my work.

My work was lacking confidence, efficiency, and personal touch. So I developed a new approach to balancing craft AND business. I finally learned how to bring myself to the creative process, not only as a performer, but as the CEO of my acting career.

Now, I feel so much more in control of my career - I feel confident, seen, and empowered.

And you can too.

What makes coaching with TAOS different?
Empathy & Authenticity.

My Purpose

A coach is not a fix-all. My role is to help you identify, unlock, and apply the pathways and tools to help you either deliver the best performance you can, or navigate this business in the most efficient way for you.

My clients work with me because, as they’ve told me, I have a keen eye for detail and I’m an excellent strategy specialist. They appreciate that I apply my industry knowledge to our work while still giving artists freedom to express themselves and work in ways that feel safe and good for them.

My Coaching Ethos

When it comes to approaching script and character, I believe a lot of actors have been conditioned to NOT trust their instincts. They’ve constantly been told this is the right way or that is the wrong thing to do.

I prefer to think that, often times, an actor’s instinct is the best place to start. THAT is the pathway to grounded, moment-to-moment acting. Whether we are working together in a “branding” session or prepping for a self-tape, my job isn’t to tell you who you are or what the “right” choice is. It’s to help reveal new pathways and give you the tools to discover what is instinctive to you… even when working on your own.

My sessions feel very much like a jam session between friends. I’ll get you out of your comfort zone without forcefulness or fear tactics. You will feel inspired, empowered, supported, and safe. And the more we work together, the easier it will become for you to bring nuance and connectedness into your work.
